Japan Kagoshima TANEGASHIMA ISLAND SHINCHA (Shouju)
The top quality grade of Japanese leaf green tea, harvested from shaded plantation on the Tanegashima island, processed with maximum care. First spring crop (Shincha) made from local single cultivar Shouju.
A first-rate, beautiful, glossy, dark green leaf processed into thicker needle shape, with a sweet grassy aroma. Well sorted whole leaf with smaller portion of broken tea leaves considered as desirable for this tea grade is made by removal of stems and ribbing from leaves during its processing.
Emerald green infusion with a turquoise hint, a very delicious, full and complex smooth taste with notably green grassy tones and long vegetal aftertaste.
Preparation tip: warm the teapot, add 6 – 8 g of tea, pour 0.3 l of water 50 – 70 °C warm, steep for 60 – 120 sec. Another steep is possible.
Due to Tanegashima island southern location begins the local first plucking several days earlier and teas from Tanegashima are the very fist Shincha in the market.
